Douglas E. Wilson, AMS®, PCAM®, CPM®, CMCA®, President, and Licensed Community Association Manager,
is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, with a Bachelor of
Business Administration in Management and Finance. Mr. Wilson also
completed the Master of Science Program in Urban Land Economics and
Real Estate Investment Analysis. Prior to forming AMI, Mr. Wilson held
numerous Management positions in two major commercial banks, a real
estate investment trust, a real estate syndication investment firm, and
private development and investment companies. These positions have
provided extensive and intensive experience in all facets of real
estate, including property management, market analysis, feasibility
analysis, conceptual design, development, construction, finance, and
project and unit sales. Mr. Wilson has over 30 years experience in
community management.
Mr. Wilson was brought to Florida's West Coast by the
family that owns Schroeder-Manatee Ranch. In addition to general real
estate asset management of the 48 square mile (28,000 acres) property,
his main responsibility was to manage the development and approval
planning for what has become the Lakewood Ranch Community.
Additionally, Barnett Bank hired Mr. Wilson to advise them on their
partially complete community: The Plantation Golf and Country Club in
Venice. His duties included re-evaluation and management of the
development planning, sales, construction, and association management
functions.
Mr. Wilson has completed extensive post-graduate education
courses through the Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, Institute of
Real Estate Management, Real Estate Securities and Syndication
Institute, Mortgage Bankers Association, American Bankers Association,
and State license course requirements. Mr. Wilson holds the AMS and
PCAM designations through the Community Associations Institute, as well
as the CPM designation through the Institute of Real Estate Management.
He is one of a very few in the nation that holds both of the highest
level designations of the two main Professional Property Management
Organizations. In addition, Mr. Wilson holds the CMCA national
designation through the National Board of Certification for Community
Association Managers.
Mr. Wilson is a Director and past President of the West Coast Chapter
of the Community Associations Institute and has served for over eight
(8) years as the delegate to the Florida Legislative Alliance, which
reviews and advises governmental officials on regulation relating to
condominium and homeowner associations. Mr. Wilson was appointed by the
County Commission to the Citizen Advisory Council to rewrite the
Manatee County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code. He is a
former Director of Barnett Bank and has also served as a Director of
many local civic and charitable organizations including Manatee Chamber
of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club of Manatee County, Manatee Family
YMCA, Manatee East Little League and the Manatee Public Schools
Education Foundation.
